about

hi, i’m Ákos 👋

I’m a lifelong learner originally from a small coal-mining town in Hungary. Driven by an intense curiosity and a natural affinity for languages and systems, I now study Computer Science at the University of Szeged while working as a Systems Engineer at one of the largest domain registrar, infrastructure and webhosting provider in Hungary.

I created this little site as a creative outlet, a place to document my projects, share insights, and explore not only technology but also diverse cultural, linguistic, and philosophical ideas. You can expect thoughts on fascinating technologies, reflections on culture and languages, and occasionally, musings on politics, business, and everyday life. This site serves one main purpose: to provide a space for creativity and genuine exploration.

my background

Initially drawn to psychology and languages—areas where I’ve always felt naturally at ease - I eventually became accustomed to, or perhaps just realized my long-standing love of mathematics and technology, which ultimately led me into IT. During high school, I participated in a special language programme, spending an entire year exclusively studying English and French, achieving fluency in English (C2, Cambridge CAE) and proficiency in French (B2, though quite rusty).

My passion for languages deeply influences my approach to programming and systems design. Both are intricate systems with complex hierarchies and defined rules, requiring precision, creativity, and an appreciation for structure. As someone naturally curious and somewhat perfectionist, I thrive on solving problems, continuously seeking clarity and systemic understanding in both technology and linguistics.

I’ve also always been particularly fascinated by East Asian cultures, appreciating their strong work ethic and their genuine presence and pride in their professional and personal lives. I believe many Asian cultures maintain a deeper connection to their work, understanding its intrinsic value beyond merely financial compensation. This perspective strongly influences how I approach my own work and interactions, striving for quality, pride, and authenticity in everything I do.

personal philosophy

I deeply appreciate calmness and reflection—moments symbolized beautifully by the sky at dawn and dusk. These dreamy times represent calm, clarity, and contemplation. I genuinely believe many contemporary issues arise from our inability or unwillingness to pause, reflect, and simply sit with our own thoughts. Inspired by Stoicism, I’m continuously working to find personal balance amidst life’s inevitable distractions and turbulence.

recent projects

At work, I recently completed a major project: architecting and deploying a distributed, load-balanced infrastructure to support a radio service for over 30,000 listeners (with scalability for even greater demand). Leveraging this experience, I’ve realized my love for truly scalable solutions, novel ideas and stable, maintanble systems. It lead me down a path of a technical pursuit aiming to address real market gaps with innovative solutions, all the while learning the ropes of a new programming languages, and technologies I’m not familiar with.

when i’m not at the keyboard

When I’m not working, you’ll often find me tinkering with my homelab (stay tuned for upcoming posts), catching up on TV series, spending quality time with family, or brainstorming new business ventures with my friends at @Numnet Labs. While I currently explore diverse cultures from afar - mainly through screens and stories - I’m eager to experience East Asian culture firsthand in the near future. For this reason, I’m going on a trip to China with some great friends in March 2026, a trip for which I’m incredibly excited.
